RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Secretarial tasks for head of department and other personnel
  • Departmental and office administration.
  • Administrative duties related to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as departmental research programmes
  • Liaison with students, industry partners and other academic institutions.
  • Organisation of conferences and other events
  • On-going maintenance of documentation for quality standards and accreditation visits

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicable secretarial/office administration qualification from an accredited tertiary institution
  • Skills in the use of MS Office software

REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least five years of relevant experience in office administration, secretarial duties.
  • Very good communication skills (especially written)
  • Very good attention to detail

ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:

  • An appropriate Bachelor’s degree
  • Skill in the use of specific computer-based systems, such as such as PeopleSoft and Click-UP, web-page development
  • Administration experience at a tertiary institution

PLEASE NOTE: It will be expected from the short-listed candidates to do a computer literacy proficiency test as part of the selection process.

The total remuneration package for this position ranges from approximately R290 718.00 to R454 248.00 as determined by UP policy guidelines. (These amounts include the University’s contributions to standard UP benefits, namely provident fund, group life and funeral cover, but exclude contributions to medical aid, as the latter varies per employee.) UP subscribes to the BESTMED/UMVUZO medical aid scheme and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
