ALTERNATIVE DISPUTE RESOLUTION COORDINATOR, Chancellor’s Office-Institute Discrimination and Harassment Response Office, to create and implement a sustainable alternative dispute resolution program to address reports of discrimination or discriminatory harassment. Will establish an alternative resolution process that is committed to implementing restorative practices to repair harm and maintaining a campus climate that is equitable, safe, and welcoming for all members of the MIT community. Responsibilities include developing, coordinating, implementing, and assessing alternative dispute resolution and restorative practices for community members who wish to informally resolve their concerns; developing comprehensive procedures for each phase of the alternative dispute resolution process; and documenting all instances of alternative dispute resolution and restorative practices, including any signed agreements. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g., conflict resolution, student affairs, higher education administration, social work, psychology); at least five years’ experience administering alternative resolution or restorative justice practices; advanced-level knowledge of legal issues in higher education, particularly related to Title IX, Title VI, and Title VII and of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and its application to the administration of student conduct through alternative resolution; excellent interpersonal skills; experience in a program manager or other managerial position; and proficiency with Microsoft Office.  Must be able to serve underrepresented and underserved populations with cultural competence and sensitivity, facilitate restorative meetings ranging from two-person mutual responsibility mediations to large-scale community circles, and cultivate partnerships in MIT’s diverse community of students/staff/faculty.

PREFERRED: advanced degree, experience working with a variety of stakeholders to develop an infrastructure for restorative justice and alternative resolution processes on campus, and experience implementing alternative dispute processes and structures in a higher education setting.  Job #18787-9
