Applications are invited for the above post in the Department of Architecture and Built Environment (ABE), under the Faculty of Science and Engineering. The applicants are expected to have a desire for interdisciplinary teaching and research in the field of architecture. The successful candidate will be positioned in the Department of Architecture and Built Environment and the Center for Sustainable Energy Technologies, at the University of Nottingham Ningbo China.

Candidates must hold a PhD degree in relevant disciplines of architecture or architectural design, digital architecture/architectural technologies, or urban design. It is desirable for the candidates to have a focus on architecture design studio with experience from architectural practice. Evidence of ability to teach and research across multiple modules of architecture design and other taught modules of architectural tectonics, digital architecture or practice and management is desirable. Extended experience of teaching and design studio work at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in an international English-speaking institution is also essential. It is expected that applicants will have at least 3-5 years of successful track record in research and publications in associated disciplines of the built environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead on teaching and curriculum development for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The candidates is expected to participate in assessing and examining students, supervise PhD students, perform high quality research, and secure external research grants. The successful candidate will also take an important role in developing our new MSc programme in Urbanism and Sustainable Environments. The candidate is expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clarity on complex and conceptual ideas to those with limited knowledge and understanding as well as to peers, using high level skills and a range of media. The role holder should independently plan and implement general research programme and direction, and devise applications for new research funding as part of the strategies of the CSET and the Department. The candidate is also required to be mentor to junior staff and lead specific research streams and teaching studio units.

Salary will be within the range of RMB580,035 – RMB688,900 per annum depending on qualifications and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including employment support allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a period of up to 5 years with effect from March 2021 or thereafter as soon as possible. This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement, subject to revised terms and conditions.
