Job Description
The candidate will work in the Pathology Department in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM). The candidate will perform a variety of tasks to maintain the laboratory including the production of virus stocks, viral tittering and preparation of reagents for cell culture. In addition, the candidate will perform a variety of viral infection assays, including drug testing and RNAi depletion of host factors, viral tittering, qPCR and immunoblots to monitor viral infection. The ability to perform other basic molecular assays such as protein and DNA gel electrophoresis and western blotting is essential. The candidate must be capable of maintaining articulate documentation of daily tasks and possess excellent written and oral communication skills. The Research Specialist B will work with the principal investigator to design and implement biological assays to evaluate the role of host genes in viral infection in neurons and with collaborators. Specific responsibilities will include moderately complex procedures complex procedures/techniques in eukaryotic/mammalian cell culture, molecular biology, and cell biology.
A Bachelor's Degree and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
