  • Part-time (0.8 FTE), fixed-term contract till September 2021; based at RMIT city campus but may be required to work and/or based at other campuses of the University

  • Remuneration at Academic Level B ($98,495 - $116,965) + 17% superannuation

About You & the Role

  • Conduct research and development activities in the areas of HFC, cable transmission, simulation of communication systems, development of algorithms using artificial intelligence
  • Work independently as well as collaboratively with the team in contributing to quality research showcasing research areas outputs publications, development of new research initiatives, presentation of research findings at conferences and forums
  • Manage research project timelines and ensure research reports meet compliance requirements as well as internal and external partners
  • Deliver impactful research outcomes and information that are relevant to the technical advancement of the project research area through publication of high-quality articles in high impact journal
  • Prepare and submit grant proposal to generate external funding for the advancement of this project
  • Contribute 10% of your time to mentor & supervise postgraduate by research students and participate in learning program activities appropriate to areas of expertise as well as administrative functions related to the research project

You will have:

  • Proven high-quality academic and/or industry-based research and knowledge in Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) system, cable transmission theories, digital communication theories, coding and modulation techniques, signal processing and machine learning
  • Strong proficiency and/or hands-on experience theoretically and experimentally realise and characterise digital communication systems and/or digital communication over coax cables
  • Emerging track records in publishing high-quality journal articles in highly ranked journals and conferences, and/or research project reports, in research areas relevant to this project
  • Passion and ability to build strong relationships across all levels of professional staff within the organisation, and equip with strong technical report writing and verbal communications
  • Ability to communicate (both verbal and written) research concepts and knowledge through demonstrated high-quality technical reports and presentational skills
  • Experience in co-supervising postgraduate by research students with ability to teach and/or mentor in the relevant areas of expertise

Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD qualified in Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering or in a closely related subject relevant to this research areas/projects and must be Australian citizen to be eligible for this position
