The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering invites application for a position of Research Fellow.

Job Description

  • Work on a project to conduct the research of band structure calculated by using the DFT, EPM and/or k.p method to design and understand the strained Ge, GeSn and Ge/GeSiSn lasers.
  • And/or semiconductor material characterization using PL, PLE and HRXRD.

Requirements

  • PhD in semiconductor physics or material
  • 1-year research experience in related area
  • Expertise in band structure simulation and/or material characterization
  • Knowledge in effective mass theory, the first-principles method and/or material characterization
  • Experiences in k.p, EPM, VASP simulation and/or PL, PLE, HRXRD measurement are highly preferred
  • Publication track record is an advantage
  • Proficiency in basics of programming languages such as Fortran
  • Proficiency in English

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
