Research Grant and Income Manager - (Psychology)
Job reference: 008207
Location: City Site
Salary : Grade G (£28,331 - £32,817 p.a.)
Employment type: Permanent
Department: Academic Schools
School/Section : School of Social Sciences

The Department of Psychology has grown its research activity over the last five years and now has a large portfolio of internally and externally funded research projects. Last year we made 82 new grant applications of which 25 were successful bringing in over £1.6m. Our revenue for consultancy activity exceeded £600k.

On the basis of this success we want to add a Research Grant and Income Manager to our staff to support the Department’s ambitions to increase its successful acquisition of grants and to enhance the monitoring and management of research income.

The Research Grant and Income Manager will support the Department’s research revenue in four main ways:

  • They will assist in the development and implementation of grant support for academic staff in the department. Along with the Grant Capture Leads, they will support staff in identifying appropriate funders, gaining appropriate training and advice for specific research funding calls, submitting grants and liaising with the research support services to ensure the effective administration of grants.
  • They will work with the Research Income Lead in the monitoring of current income and expenditure.
  • They will assist in the development of our income stream from consultancy and evaluation.
  • They will operate in the capacity of administrative support for specific research projects on a buy-out basis.

You will be joining a very large, lively, diverse, collegiate and ambitious group with an excellent reputation for its theoretically informed impactful and applied research and its teaching provision at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Applicants

Applicants will have an undergraduate degree in Psychology (or cognate discipline), good data management and IT skills and experience of working across a wide spectrum of levels within a university (or similar organisational environment). You should have a good understanding of the research application process and the HE funding landscape as well as of the management of externally funded research grants.

The Department is committed to diversity and inclusion, and provides a lead in the University on initiatives such as Success for All and Athena SWAN where we became the first department in the University to achieve accreditation last year. We especially welcome applications from under-represented groups. Appointments will always be made on merit.

If you have any questions or enquries, please contact Clifford Stevenson on clifford.stevenson@ntu.ac.uk.

Please note this role does not meet the UK Border Agency requirements for sponsorship.

Nottingham Trent University is unable to apply for sponsorship for any applicant not eligible to work in the UK and therefore we cannot progress applications from candidates who require sponsorship under the Points Based Immigration System.

Nottingham Trent University prides itself on being an inclusive employer. We value and celebrate diversity and welcome applications from people who reflect the diversity of our local communities and wider society.
