Provost
American University of Bahrain
Riffa, Bahrain
The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) seeks a Provost. Opened in September 2019, AUBH is the first comprehensive American-style coeducational university in Bahrain and is supported through the Mumtalakat portfolio (https://mumtalakat.bh/industry/elm-fund/). The modern 19-acre (75,000 square-meter) purpose-built campus is constructed to accommodate 3,500 students. The University is governed by an international board of distinguished academic and business leaders. Through its colleges of Architecture & Design, Business & Management, and Engineering, AUBH offers bachelor’s degrees in American-style career-oriented STEM and business curricula, with graduate programs to launch shortly. All instruction is in English. Licensed by Bahrain’s Higher Education Council of the Ministry of Education, the University is in the early stages of securing US regional accreditation. AUBH recently announced its academic partnership with California State University, Northridge (CSUN), the first of its kind in Bahrain.
Reporting directly to the President, the Provost will implement the University’s strategic vision and direction for teaching and learning pedagogy. The Provost is responsible for all academic affairs, including accreditation, quality assurance, registrar, library, academic governance, research, faculty recruitment, academic support/advising, and leading the program development and delivery with CSUN. A key responsibility is to develop a unique and forward-thinking American-style student experience, employing innovative teaching and learning tools to nurture employment-ready graduates. An interactive campus video tour and additional information are available at www.aubh.edu.bh.
Candidate qualifications include an earned doctorate, a decade of experience in American-style academic administration and governance, familiarity with US institutional/programmatic accreditation, fluency in English, and knowledge of global best practices in teaching and learning. International experience is a plus. Compensation is competitive. Citizens of countries that tax world-wide income, such as the US, may qualify for favorable tax treatment; there are no local taxes.
Korn Ferry, on behalf of AUBH, invites confidential candidate applications, nominations, and inquiries. A detailed position description is available upon request. Applications, including CV and letter of interest, should be submitted to ProvostAUBH@kornferry.com.
