Energy Research Institute @ NTU invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with a dynamic team to involve in design, modelling & simulation and prototyping of centralized energy management system
  • Develop communication interfaces with energy management system scheduler/aggregator for various DERs within a cluster
  • Develop optimization and control algorithm for distributed power management
  • Actively support the overall system integration, testing and deployment
  • Work closely with fellow researchers, developers, partners and/or external vendors for timely project delivery
  • Organize the project data, draft periodical reports, present project status, conduct market scans/interviews and develop proposals for future work
  • Keep abreast of global Microgrid technology development and translate its implications to the design of the market solutions

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with research experience in power system optimization and control systems or related fields
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in the relevant fields are welcome to apply as job title will be accorded based on the level of experience
  • Proficiency with both centralized and distributed energy resources modelling/management
  • Familiar with grid ancillary services such as voltage/power management, fast demand response, contingency reserve, peak shaving and regulation service etc
  • Proficiency in power system modelling and analysis tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PowerFacotry or Power Words
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Python
  • Programming experience in programmable logic controllers and/or micro-controllers are preferable
  • Experience in using common industrial protocols such as CAN, Modbus RTU/TCP and OPC UA
  • Familiar with power electronics converter control system
  • Strong analytical, communication (written and verbal), coordination, and negotiation skills
  • Able to manage multiple stakeholders (external and internal) and work under tight timelines
  • Excellent teamwork awareness
