UCD School of Earth Sciences seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Geology. Candidates must possess a PhD in Geology or Earth Sciences, a strong track record of published scientific research for their career stage, and, ideally, previous teaching experience.

The appointed person will be an enthusiastic university teacher who can contribute to the Geology BSc degree. Classroom teaching includes introductory earth and environmental science courses taught to large groups (150) and contributions in the area of their expertise to modules for advanced student cohorts (10-30 students). Candidates must also be able and willing to lead Geology field classes and, ideally, capable of supervising final year students undertaking laboratory and independent field mapping projects.

Candidates who satisfy these core requirements but who additionally have research interests that complement existing expertise in the School are especially encouraged to apply.

A review of research interests should include detail on current and proposed research activities and how these would complement and expand on existing expertise in UCD School of Earth Sciences.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guideline
