Overview

The purpose of the Kurongkurl Katitjin Centre for Indigenous Australian Education and Research is to transform lives and enrich society through meaningful community engagement, innovative student support, high quality teaching, impactful research and cultural leadership.

The Centre is an integral part of the University providing a range of services that include:

  • High quality support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
  • Teaching expertise across the University’s Courses both at the undergraduate and post graduate level
  • Research leadership within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander context
  • High-level advice and cultural leadership across the University
  • Support and leadership to the academic body with regard to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander matters.

The Role

Reporting to the Manager, Kurongkurl Katitjin, this role is responsible for actively participating in and delivering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recruitment and student support activities as well as supporting and promoting Kurongkurl Katitjin’s work through implementation of tailored and purposeful communication and engagement strategies.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working in Higher Education sector or a related field with transferrable skills
  • An ability to communicate effectively at all levels, determining the most appropriate format and implementing relevant information dissemination strategies
  • Strong rapport to form positive working relationships with all internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders/communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in organising significant events with strong, professional events management skills, excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail.

The successful applicant will need to provide a current and up-to-date WA Working with Children clearance.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full time, 12 month fixed-term position, attracts remuneration of $82,658 to $89,180 pa (HEW6) plus superannuation. Salary rates are effective as of the 8th January 2021.
