Role Description

Greater use of agroforestry and mixed farming can increase the sustainability of European agriculture in the face of climate and economic change, but the adoption and maintenance of such systems must provide financial benefits for farmers. As part of new multi-partner EU-funded Horizon 2020 project called AGROMIX, Cranfield University welcomes applications for an enthusiastic Research Assistant (who has recently submitted their PhD) or Research Fellow (with a PhD) who can advance the practice and science of agroforestry and mixed farming systems in Europe.

You will have experience of working with farmers and others within the food system, of developing and using models to allow economic comparison of land use systems, and a demonstrated drive to produce high quality reports and papers. This is an exciting position that provides the opportunity to work with a group of experienced and well-motivated researchers and practitioners from across Europe.

You must have a PhD (or close to completion) focused on agricultural systems, agricultural economics, or systems modelling, as well as a peer-reviewed journal publication record.
