The University of Lincoln is seeking to appoint an ICT Support Technician within Lincoln Agri-Robotics (LAR) research centre, the world's first global centre of excellence in agricultural robotics, funded by UKRI's Research England.

The role sits within the LAR technical services team and will involve providing highly specialised technical support to research teams by preparing, overseeing and maintaining software and hardware infrastructure in predominantly Linux-based environments. The post-holder will work closely with the Senior Research Software Engineer to understand the technical requirements of LAR researchers and to provide excellent support experience to both academic staff and postgraduate students.

The post-holder will actively contribute to the day-to-day development and support of new or existing software and computer hardware in the areas of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning and will assist with solving a wide range of technical problems. Through supporting the management of computer-based projects, the role presents an opportunity to actively participate in research, applying innovative technologies and development to the diverse and meaningful challenges in the fast-paced application domain of Agri-Robotics.

Applicants will be expected to have a good understanding of Linux and be comfortable working in a terminal. Experience with the following languages, frameworks and tools is also beneficial: Git, Python, C++, bash, ROS, Docker, MySql, MongoDB, Ansible and Terraform. The applicant should have a strong interest in and willingness to explore and learn new technologies.
