Overview

At ECU, we understand that everyone deserves an opportunity to reach their potential. Our University Preparation Course (UniPrep) prepares students for University study by teaching them essential study skills in one semester of full-time study (or the equivalent in part-time study). UniPrep offers students the time and space to become familiar with university life and study before students start their undergraduate course.

The Access and Equity Directorate is responsible for delivering high quality enabling programs that meet the needs of pre-tertiary students, schools and communities, and progressing equitable and inclusive practice across the institution. A key focus of the area is creating university pathways for diverse cohorts of students in metropolitan and regional contexts.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced educator with a passion for assisting students to reach their full potential, to join our innovative, energetic, forward-thinking team at our South-West campus. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator to make a difference at ECU through innovation in teaching and learning.

This position will be primarily focused on the coordination and development of the UniPrep Schools program in the South West region. The position works closely with the UniPrep Schools Coordinator on the metro campuses to provide support to secondary schools in the program. The position will also include preparation and delivery of teaching, and associated administrative duties, within the UniPrep program at ECU, including on the regional campus, online and accelerated modes. The position will contribute to the development of curricula, whilst also carrying out activities to develop and maintain scholarly expertise related to teaching and learning in the discipline.

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate;

  • a sound professional and academic track record in any combination of mathematics, chemistry, biology, academic writing, critical thinking and/or academic skills;
  • hold a postgraduate qualification at master’s level or equivalent as a minimum;
  • and demonstrate education and research experience within a tertiary or practice education setting.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate skills and achievement in supporting students’ transition to university, and a good understanding of how to support students facing additional barriers to success in university studies.

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry and Personal Excellence.
