Salary: $73,669 - $99,964 p.a.(Level A) or $105,232 - $124,958 p.a.(Level B). Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.

About the role:

The successful candidate will be working in a team of epidemiologists, economists and computer scientists. You will take a lead role in the content area of housing interventions (e.g. reducing coldness and model), working across the Population Interventions Unit and newly established NHMRC funded Health Housing Centre of Research Excellence. You will also take a leading role in other interventions (e.g. diet, physical activity). You will conceptualize and specify the intervention (who gets it, for how long, at what cost) and help build the simulation models (e.g. generating the system of disease incidence, prevalence and case fatality; intervention effect sizes), collate other input variables, run analyses in Python (other members of the team will lead the model build), process outputs, and write up publications and disseminate results to stakeholders and academic audiences.

The Population Interventions Unit is rapidly establishing itself as an influential research group and has been very involved in the State of Victoria’s COVID-19 policy response.

Note that this appointment is available at either Level A or B, depending on the experience and track record of the successful applicant

About you:

You will require a PhD in epidemiology (preferred), computer science, economics, demography or closely related discipline (e.g. biostatistics). You will need demonstrated skills and experience in using a statistical or programming code (Python desirable). Strong writing skills are essential.  You will need good communication skills and the ability to work harmoniously and productively in a vibrant and multidisciplinary team.
