The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering continues to grow and as a consequence we are advertising for three additional academics, one of which is in the area of Robotics and Autonomous Systems.
The ideal candidate will be on track to becoming an outstanding researcher, doing innovative research which complements that being pursued in the Department. You will have emerging international recognition and a significant number of high-quality publications in top journals. You will have potential to attract research funding from government and/or industrial sources. Our aim is to grow our research portfolio and you will be expected to take a major role in achieving that goal.

The role will afford the successful candidate the opportunity to work with colleagues in delivering taught courses in for example AI Applications in Engineering, SMART Buildings, SMART Machines, Control, Robotics and autonomous systems. In addition, the successful candidate will be involved in AI and machine learning driven projects which may include the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) such as Formula Student AI or the Unmanned Air Systems project.
The academic appointment at the Senior Lecturer or Lecturer level will depend on experience of the applicants. The role will be based primarily at the University’s main site in Uxbridge and you may be required to travel to our other site near Cambridge and in both the UK and abroad.
