An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced chemical biologist in the research group of Prof Gerd Wagner at Queen’s University Belfast. Following Prof Wagner’s recent relocation to Queen’s, the position offers an opportunity for a highly motivated and independent individual to play a leading role in shaping and developing our research programme. The Research Fellow will carry out chemical biology research investigating the role of glycans for bacterial pathogenicity, virulence, and antimicrobial resistance. They will also have a senior role in the day-to-day running of the research laboratory, including the co-supervision of postgraduate and undergraduate students. The role is ideally suited for applicants who want to develop their academic profile and gain wider experience in the running of a research laboratory.
The successful candidate will also be supported by the Faculty Postdoctoral Development Centre as part of a wider Queen’s offering which provides outstanding support to researchers.
The successful candidate must have:
- 2:1 Honors Degree or equivalent in chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, or a related subject
- Have or about to obtain a PhD in chemistry, chemical biology, biochemistry, pharmacy, or a related subject.
- At least 3 years recent and relevant experience in laboratory-based chemical biology research
- Experience in the development and/or application of (bio)analytical techniques as relevant to the project (e.g., NMR, HPLC, SDS-PAGE, MS, fluorimetry)
This post is available for 12 months with possibility of extension.
