An opportunity has arisen for a researcher with expertise in software development to work in the EU HORIZON 2020 project “EUNOMIA: User-oriented, secure, trustful and decentralised social media”. The overall project deals with the development of an infrastructure and associated digital companion for assisting social media users in determining how trustworthy a piece of information posted online is. The specific research post relates to the integration of the group’s machine learning technologies in the EUNOMIA toolkit and user interface.

This is an exciting opportunity to participate in a new area of research and in the process collaborate with our prestigious project partners, including key players in software engineering, information verification, blockchain, social media, social journalism and traditional media.

You will be responsible for developing software for collecting data, determining what can be visualised to the user, as well as how to assist a user in deriving their own conclusions regarding the veracity of a piece of information. As part of this work, you will integrate techniques for optimising the identification and management of information cascades in social media.

You will need to be a highly competent software developer with 2+ years of experience in experience building responsive Python applications and backend services, RESTful API knowledge and development experience. Also, experience working with microservices and containerization is essential (preferably, Docker). We will also prioritise candidates with experience working with JavaScript and Electron frameworks (including UI/UX elements).
