Job Details

The Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore invite applications for a Research Associate to join a project investigating nitrogen fixation in corals and the coral micro-biome. This is a soon to be completed project currently focused on interpreting data from in situ nitrogen experiments.

Job Responsibilities

  • Interpret detailed genetic and incubation data
  • Deconvolve species specific coral data from long-term incubation experiments
  • Experience running and overseeing molecular analysis, trace element analysis and organic separation from coral calcium carbonate matrices
  • Write manuscripts describing key finding

Job Requirements

  • Master of Philosophy in Marine Science or Biological Sciences.
  • Experience in conducting field work using SCUBA
  • Strong expertise in interpreting gentic, molecular, and geochemical analysis
  • Excellent English and communication skills, both written and oral
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for collaborative research
  • Strong record of publication in the respective topic

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
