As a key component of UNNC, NUBS China is also an integral part of the Nottingham University Business School awarding the same internationally recognized degrees offered by Nottingham in the UK. NUBS China currently has approximately 2,800 students of which about 400 are enrolled in postgraduate programmes including a Ph.D. programme. It has an international faculty of about 100, all based in Ningbo China and coming from 27 countries or so. The school is EQUIS accredited and is part of a university that is highly rated and is seeking to improve further its ranking among the world’s top research and teaching universities.  NUBS China focuses its efforts around the three "I"s-International, Innovative, and Interactive. Since 2011, NUBS China has rapidly progressed towards an increasing focus on high impact research, customized executive education, and high quality teaching.

The appointment is open to candidates with either a strong research background in leadership / management development or with extensive practical experience of developing leaders / managers. The appointment may either as a Professor of Practice or as a ‘Research + Teaching’ Associate Professor.

A Professor of Practice will focus more on executive education and potentially applied research; a ‘Research + Teaching’ Associate Professor will get involved in executive education but have significant time and support to conduct high-level research.

A ‘Professor of Practice’ appointment will play an important role in the educational side of NUBS China’s executive education which works with Chinese and international organizations to develop their leadership and management capability, with a particular focus on globalization and international management.  NUBS China is well-established as an executive education provider and is now looking to expand and strengthen its current capability. As the first role focused primarily on leadership and management development, the successful candidate will be able to shape the development of executive education working with a range of experienced faculty members and a strengthened business development team.

The successful candidate (for Research + Teaching’ Associate Professor) must undertake and publish high-quality research in Leadership. Experience of teaching and tutorial work in relevant subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level in an international English-speaking institution is also essential. The successful candidate will be expected to teach lectures and seminars in Leadership/Management development across all years of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and contribute to the supervision of undergraduate, master, and doctoral dissertations. 

Candidates must have experience of delivering executive education, preferably with a focus on leadership and/or management development. Candidates may also have experience of designing executive education programmes as well as programme direction. Fluent written and oral English is essential, while Chinese Putonghua is desirable. In addition, the person appointed will be expected to contribute to the overall management of the executive education activities of the School. 

A PhD (for Research + Teaching’ Associate Professor), Masters or equivalent professional qualification (for Professor of Practice) is expected. Opportunities to teach on undergraduate and masters programmes are available for suitable candidates. Research opportunities related to leadership/ management development will be available.

Salary will be within the range of RMB580,035– RMB 688,900 per annum depending on skills and experience (salary progression beyond this is subject to performance). In addition, an attractive package including employment service allowance (accommodation and annual return airfare to home country for candidate and family), tuition for children at local international school, moving expenses, and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The post will initially be offered on a fixed term contract with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China for a period of 5 years starting 1 February 2021 (or a different start date by mutual agreement). This contract may be renewed/ extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement.
