The Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Strategy is located within Newcastle Business School (NBS). Apart from being double-accredited with AACSB (for Business and Accounting) and EPAS-accredited, NBS has established a wide reputation for its highly innovative teaching across a wide range of Business and Management disciplines, underpinned by a drive to deepen the research culture and match the best institutions for the quality of its work. The Department of Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Strategy (EIS) has recently benefited from significant investment in its research capacity, including six Vice Chancellor Fellows and ten professors, along with academics at various other levels in their career. Significant research activities include regional economic development (encompassed in iNCITE), entrepreneurship and innovation, international business and strategy, and international business history. EIS also houses the highly-acclaimed Business Clinic, a facility that links students and client organisations as part of a rich experiential learning pedagogy that runs throughout NBS programmes. Work with the NE LEP and other business and public sector bodies also features prominently in the knowledge exchange activities of EIS, for example on a NE Tourism Hub and supporting regional economic recovery from the impact of Covid-19.

As Head of the Department of Enterprise, Innovation and Strategy and a member of the Executive team of the award winning Newcastle Business School you will support the Faculty Pro-Vice Chancellor to oversee and drive the performance of the School, in line with the ambitious aims of the University Strategy 2018-23.

With a strong track record in research in a relevant discipline, and in delivering teaching excellence, you will be responsible for oversight of all aspects of academic provision in the department of Enterprise, Innovation and Strategy, across Education, Learning and Teaching, Student Satisfaction and Employability, Research and Innovation, International Activity, Enterprise and Knowledge Exchange, and Staff Engagement and Performance enabling empowered people to be the best they can and supporting an inclusive and high performing culture.

Alongside the Faculty Pro Vice-Chancellor, you will lead, support, and mentor colleagues towards achieving the School vision.  You will work with colleagues across the University to create and develop strategic partnerships and networks to enhance collaboration.

You will hold a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline and have developed an excellent publication and research track-record. As well as having a strong publication record and evidence of ability to generate research income, you must have the ability to empower people in a professional environment.
