The Opportunity

The School of BioSciences are inviting applications from emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander academics specialising in teaching & learning. This is an excellent opportunity for those that are looking to advance their scholarly career. The position is ongoing and has been established to nurture your talent and provide you with developmental support to progress your career within the higher education sector.

This position represents just one of many commitments to build a cohort of Indigenous academic staff within the Faculty of Science and to enrich the Faculty’s diverse scholarly community.

It forms an important link in building a sustainable career pathway for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders within the Faculty of Science — from undergraduate to Professorial level and beyond.

Your Profile

As an aspiring academic you will have a clear passion for your teaching & learning and be highly motivated to investigate contemporary and innovative teaching practices. Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to work with a broad range of people to achieve your goals.

You Will Have

  • A tertiary degree (Honours level) in Biological Sciences or a related field. The Faculty are also interested in speaking with any candidates who have an interest in enrolling in a Masters or PhD program, and would be able to support candidates in managing their study alongside this role which would include a reduction in FTE while completing their Postgraduate studies
  • A commitment to teaching excellence and the implementation of innovative teaching practices 
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team
