Description:

Under the direction of the Director, Academic + Campus Events (ACE), the Manager, Accommodated Testing Services (ATS) is responsible for the development and operation of the University’s Accommodated Testing Services (ATS) unit, which provides administration of over 20, 000 tests and exams annually for over 3,000 students registered with Accessibility Services. The Manager will have the mandate of developing policy, guidelines and operational plans for test and exams ensuring the alignment of the mission of the University and legislative requirements.

The incumbent will provide leadership and professional expertise in the planning and implementation of accommodated test and exam services, and manages staff to successfully execute the service to the University community and assumes responsibility for human resources and labour relations including dispute resolution and compliance of collective agreements. The Manager will liaise with Accessibility Services, Faculties and Registrars, and other members of the campus community to develop and foster relationships and act as an advocate for the University community providing information and advice with respect to the service and the accommodation process.

The Manager will have full budget oversight, and ensure fiscal responsibility in the operation of the service.

Qualifications:

(MINIMUM)

Education:

University Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

Minimum five (5) years of substantial and progressively responsible management-related experience and knowledge of planning, and management of a test and exam service that provides accommodations to students; Experience and ability to apply management principles, practices and techniques to ensure the effective administration of the unit and to ensure institutional goals are achieved; Fiscal and budget management knowledge and experience including the ability to establish, implement, monitor and analyze financial data; Supervision and management of unionized staff.

Skills:

Superior oral and written communication skills; Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Word, and adaptive technology; Demonstrated strategic, analytical, conflict resolution, organization and planning skills; Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative, positive and effective working relationships with multiple and diverse partners and stakeholders, internally and externally; Superior presentation and training skills; Highly developed and effective problem solving skills; Demonstrated integrity, dependability, sound judgement, teambuilding and resourcefulness; Ability to exercise tact, judgement, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information; Must be able to multitask and prioritize in order to meet deadlines; Project management and project coordination skills.

Other:

Ability to initiate policies and implement work priorities and procedures; Detail oriented; Demonstrated initiative; Ability to provide vision, motivation and guidance to staff to work collaboratively towards the goals of the office, and with all partners and stakeholders; Ability to address complex issues utilizing a clear, thoughtful manner and come to a resolution quickly without jeopardizing testing or relationships with people involved; Ability to listen carefully to understand, respond and problem-solve effectively to address concerns and interests of partners and stakeholders; Ability to work independently with a minimal supervision, as well as serve as a key member of the ACE team.
