Role Description

Research Assistant or Research Fellow in Structural Integrity of Additively Manufactured Components

Cranfield University Centre for Renewable Energy Systems welcomes applications from researchers to work on structural integrity of additively manufactured materials for application in offshore wind industry. The role holder will also be working with other academic partners from different universities as well as Supergen ORE Hub members.

This post will contribute to the delivery of the Supergen ORE Hub funded project on “Corrosion and fatigue protection of offshore wind turbine structures using additive manufacturing technology”.

You will be key in working on the development of experimental and numerical methods to understand the pitting corrosion and fatigue behaviour of additively manufactured structures, as well as presenting research outcomes at international structural integrity, wind and additive manufacturing conferences and publishing final results in prestigious journals.

You will have (obtained or near completion ) a PhD in Mechanical / Civil / Structural Engineering, Materials Science or other Additive Manufacturing related disciplines; and experience in finite element modelling, laboratory testing, and preparing, editing and submitting high quality journal papers. You will also have an understanding of the wider concepts of structural design and integrity of additively manufactured parts for application in various industries, particularly in renewable energy marine structures. You will be a team player, with excellent project management and interpersonal skills.
