Job Description

The Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for a research associate or post-doc position starting April 2021 to work on a research project in the area of hydrological modeling and remote sensing applications in flood risk assessment and stormwater management. The project will evaluate the accuracy of satellite precipitation products using daily and sub-daily ground-based observations data as a reference. The comparison will be made based on the availability of the rain gauge data. In addition, the evaluation of satellite precipitation will be extended to the analysis of hydrological models (such as GSSHA) using satellite products to simulate several historical flooding events. Suitable candidates should have a track record and significant contribution and co-authorship to at least 3 Scopus indexed publications on the topics of: hydrological modeling, flood risk assessment, and stormwater management. Duties include management of day-to-day activities of the project; data collection, synthesis and analysis, and publishing research findings in refereed journals.
