Job Description

With the guidance from the Principal Investigators in the CBICA group, the Research Project Manager A will take the role in managing the operations of projects, which includes budget development, preparation, review, edit and submission of sponsored program proposals, as well as the post award management of the center’s research grants awarded by the federal government, private foundations, internal Penn sources, subcontracts and others, ensuring all salaries and expenses are allocated appropriately. The incumbent will function in a lead capacity while overseeing existing project activities, submitting data agreement requests, supporting the implementation of new projects and meeting timelines involved in the progress reports submissions.

The research project manager will have regular contact with outside collaborators to manage the execution of agreements and subcontracts and will organize internal team meetings, creating the agendas, assist with planning and support of the center’s seminar series. He/She will also prepare and submit study protocols, renewals and modifications according to the needs of the sponsored research, as well as review and edit manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journal. The research project manager will also prepare and submit HR job requisitions and work with the PIs on the related hiring proposals. The successful candidate will also assist in various administrative issues, such as maintain Endnote database and PIs cv's, NIH biosketch and other support documents up to date via various university databases, as well as provide assistance to the researchers with visa documents and applications, reimbursements and orders for designated research projects. He/She will also perform simple website management and website content development, and document internal processes. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work independently as well as in a team setting is required.
  • Must possess excellent project management skills, communication skills and organizational skills along with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required. Experience with PennERA, RIS, HSERA, Ben Buys, CONCUR, iPenn, BPP website and scheduling is preferred.
