May perform analyses, development and evaluation on large databases and large complex installations. May provide reporting and decision support systems consultation. May provide data analysis expertise to one or more project or support teams. May work with vendor delivered solutions

Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to perform daily data functions in the Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Site. The responsibilities for the position include: scheduling data management space to several ongoing research projects; develop study materials, specifically source documents, protocol materials; perform daily data entry into various data platforms; respond to data queries in a timely manner; interact with protocol level data managers external to Penn; maintain current best practices and procedures; function as a resource on data related issues to clinical staff; teach clinical staff use of Direct Data Entry and secondary data entry platforms; conduct quality assurance validations, protocol and chart review; assist in streamlining clinical and data management related and throughput efficiencies for staff and resources.

Duties include:

  1. Perform daily quality review checks of data and source documents, request corrections from staff
  2. Perform daily data entry into various data platforms
  3. Review and respond to data queries daily across multiple platforms
  4. Develop study related materials, assuring adequate source documentation of all data and required visit activities
  5. Interact with external data managers and monitors
  6. Mentor Clinical staff in data requirements, direct and secondary data entry
  7. Other duties as assigned

A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Health Sciences, Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, or related science, and 2-3 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience managing data in large research studies required. A highly professional demeanor and well-developed professional speaking, writing, and presentation are essential. Previous experience interacting with clinical research staff is preferred as is experience drafting study related materials including source documents. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and multi-level tasks. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, regulatory requirements and GCP required. Experience with electronic data capture databases, iMedidata and iDataFax, preferred.
