Chair (W3) of Pavement Engineering
and Road Construction
starting on April 1, 2022. With the goal of intensifying research in the field of road infrastructure construction the chair is funded by EUROVIA in the first year of appointment. Upon termination of the funding, you will hold the Chair (W3) of Pavement Engineering in succession of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Frohmut Wellner.
Your initial focus will be further profiling the scientific field with high significance for modern mobility research by contributing constructively to the development of a progressive road infrastructure. With regard to research-orientation, the teaching obligation will be 2 SWS (semester hours per week) in the first year. As holder of the Chair of Pavement Engineering you will represent the scientific fields of pavement engineering with commitment in teaching and research. Your teaching tasks comprise the diploma study programme of Civil Engineering, including the distance-learning study programme of Civil Engineering, and the English-speaking master study programme Advanced Computational and Civil Engineering Structural Studies (ACCESS). We expect your participation in academic selfadministration and your willingness to teach in English. You will be head of the Institute of Urban and Pavement Engineering and provide organisational support for the department of Urban Engineering from summer semester 2023. We wish for successful acquisition of third-party funding from federal (DFG, BMBF et.al.) and EU sources. We place special emphasis on your willingness to cooperate with other chairs of the faculty and other faculties of the TU Dresden and also with non-university research institutions in the vicinity of the TU Dresden. The chair is assigned a laboratory approved according to RAP-Stra and a certification authority for the certification of building materials for pavements. Your task will be to shape the general conditions for a successful continuation of these facilities.
Experience in the fields of pavement construction and design is a prerequisite, experience in the fields of urban engineering and urban construction is desired. Candidates with international teaching and research experience are very welcome. In research, you should be able to prove your ability to carry out academic research by means of an appropriate publication activity. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (§ 58 SächsHSFG).
