TECHNICIAN A, ELECTRO-MECHANICAL, Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC), to join an internationally recognized facility at the forefront of plasma physics and fusion energy research. The PSFC comprises a team of almost 200 top-tier students, scientists, engineers, and technicians. It recently announced a new accelerated pathway to fusion energy that is based on the development and demonstration of the world’s highest performing superconducting fusion magnets and the design of the first net-energy fusion device--the SPARC tokamak. Will work in the fast-paced, team-oriented environment of the SPARC project to achieve net fusion energy.  Responsibilities include obtaining and maintaining licenses, operator permits. or certifications as required; the layout of electrical jobs and estimating and ordering materials; installing electrical equipment and hooking up motors, pumps, and power supplies; installing and maintaining 3-phase utility power systems; troubleshooting and repairing faulty electrical systems; performing a variety of related duties in support of magnet programs and research; helping to maintain maintenance shop by managing tools, parts, and equipment; and learning from senior technicians, engineers, and scientists to successfully complete all assigned tasks. 

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  high school diploma or GED; graduation from a two-year technical school or its equivalent (technical military training accepted); and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, follow all safety guidelines and procedures, and demonstrate working knowledge of tools and equipment.  Job #19011

The schedule for the position is Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 2:0 P.M.  Must be able to work all shift hours and overtime, including weekends, as needed.
