in a joint appointment procedure from 1st April 2022.

 

About 130 employees are currently teaching and researching at the Faculty of Chemistry and Food Chemistry. About 600 students are enrolled in the degree programmes offered by the faculty in chemistry (Bachelor and Master) and in food chemistry (state examination and Diplom). The faculty is also involved to a considerable extent in the teacher training courses in chemistry as well as in the basic training of numerous scientific and technical degree programmes at TU Dresden. Teaching is mainly carried out by 15 chairs, which are supported by eight professors appointed jointly with extramural research institutions, especially in the Master's degree programme in chemistry. The close scientific networking of the faculty with the numerous extramural research institutions offers an excellent environment for modern teaching and research with a focus on "material-relevant chemistry" and "biologically orientated chemistry".

The Kurt-Schwabe-Institut für Mess- und Sensortechnik e.V. Meinsberg (KSI) is a non-profit state institute with state-of-the-art equipment for conducting basic and application-orientated, innovative research in the fields of physical, chemical, electrochemical and biochemical sensor technology, as well as the associated development of novel sensor materials and their technical advancement including the construction of operational sensors and scientific instrumentation. The institute is committed to the training of early-career researchers in the above-mentioned fields.

You will be responsible for the scientific, personnel and economic management of KSI. As holder of the chair, you will have teaching duties of two to four hours per week during the semester in the field of appointment at TU Dresden. We also expect your willingness and ability to conduct courses in the English language as well as participation in academic self-administration. Your future research activities will primarily include research into new sensor materials, system miniaturisation for portable and flexible sensor technology and the use of sensor systems in medical diagnostics, environmental analysis, recycling and digitisation of agriculture, and the production and storage of renewable energies.

 

 

 

We are interested in you as an internationally proven academic personality in the field of appointment with leadership experience, who can demonstrate the successful acquisition of research contracts from industry and the public sector. We expect you to expand the KSI with its regional and supra-regional importance as an internationally visible centre for sensor technology and to be intensively involved in research alliances as well as in the promotion of next-generation researchers. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements of § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG).
