(Tenure Track W2)

within the Faculty of Philosophy II, Institute of Romance Studies. The position will commence at the earliest possible date.

Applicants should have a research focus on French and Francophone Cultural Studies. Teaching requirements include courses in the BA- and MA degree programmes of the institute, in all degree programmes for future teachers of French, as well as in the interdisciplinary BA- and MA degree programmes in Intercultural European and American Studies (IKEAS) of the Faculty of Philosophy II, which involves the English, German and Russian departments as well as Romance studies. Candidates are expected to cooperate closely across the disciplines of the faculty in research and teaching, to enhance the faculty’s interdisciplinary profile, particularly in cultural studies, and to further the internationalization of the university.

The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate with the Department of Ethnology at the Faculty of Philosophy I as well as with the interdisciplinary research centers which the faculty is involved in. A willingness to contribute to the university’s core research areas in the humanities, “Enlightenment – Religion – Knowledge” and “Society and Culture in Motion. Diffusion – Experiment – Institution”, is expected.

Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.

Applicants need to fulfill the requirements for appointment as stipulated in section 40 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities. An outstanding doctoral degree and additional academic achievements relevant to the field as well as proof of pedagogical qualification are prerequisites. As a rule, the time period between the final doctoral degree examination and the application for this junior professorship should not exceed six years.

The junior professor's initial appointment is limited to three years. After a positive interim evaluation, the appointment will be extended by three more years. The appointment will be tenured as a W2 professorship (permanent position) after a positive final evaluation.

The junior professorship is funded by the Joint Federal Government-Länder (federal states) Tenure-Track Programme for the promotion of early-career researchers (up to four years after Ph.D.).
