We are seeking an excellent academic to join our staff as a Lecturer / Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science. The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. This strategic requirement for role will be expertise in the areas of Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence. In particular applications will be welcome from those with experience in the associated implementation areas of Autonomous Platforms, Sensors and Cyber-physical Systems, and/or Geospatial technologies. The appointee will be required to make a full contribution to the teaching programmes at the department. S/he will be assigned teaching duties that are related to the fields of Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence and to fundamental topics in Computer Science/Software Engineering. Teaching roles can be on any of the Department’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. In addition, the academic will be expected to supervise master’s and PhD students.
The appointee will be required to build a strong research profile in alignment with the University’s research strategy. First of all, they will sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance and generate publications of an international standard.
Lecturer (Post 1995*): €54,849 – €86,235 per annum (7 points)
Assistant Lecturer (2020): €34,746 – €60,985 per annum (14 points)
Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.
*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the Assistant Lecturer (2020) payscale or the Lecturer (Post 1995) payscale.
