Position Focus:

The Senior Guest Experience Manager is the ambassador for all Schwarzman Center dining and reports to the Assistant Director, Hospitality Operations. This position has responsibility of all aspects of front of the house operations with a strong focus on the Food and Beverage experience for the university's student body.

Essential Duties

  1. Plan, organize and manage the daily operations of the Schwarzman Center dining outlets to include: student meals, retail outlets and conference room services.
  2. Provide daily onsite support to Executive Chef and Catering Manager in design, development and creation of a quality experience in the areas of: set up, decoration, linen, props and other aspects, daily service, special events, theme dinners and other functions.
  3. Provide support with Menu Forecasting with Executive Chef and Culinary team.
  4. Collaborate with the Schwarzman Center Hospitality leadership team to ensure the highest level of customer service by developing and overseeing service standards, customer service policies, quality assurance, in-service training, proper food handling and sanitation standards.
  5. Conduct regular service inspections and evaluations to observe service, station appearance; and cleanliness and sanitation of production and service areas, equipment and employee uniform compliance.
  6. Implement and monitor housekeeping, sanitary and safety rules and regulations.
  7. Supervise the café, bistro, bar, convenience store, and main dining room during meal periods and special events.
  8. Monitor bar patronage and alcohol usage of students during bar opening hours.
  9. Monitor revenue and expenses for all cost centers and provide support with inventory control by reviewing weekly and monthly financial reports.
  10. Assist with preparing operational reports and analyses on trends, operational costs and make experienced recommendations as necessary.
  11. Interview, select, train and evaluate service and support staff. 
  12. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management or a related field and 3 years of previous Service Management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Knowledge of food service, quality, nutrition, safety and sustainability standards, and applied nutrition.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently as well as be a member of the team.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

To work weekend hours. Flexibility to work demanding hours based on the operational needs of the department.

  1. ServSafe Certified
  2. TIPS Certified 

Physical Requirements

  1. Availability to work weekend hours. Must be willing to work flexible and demanding hours based on the operational needs of the department.
  2. Sustained standing; frequent bending.
  3. Move, lift and carry supplies, equipment, and materials weighing up to 35 pounds without assistance from floor to waist height and 25 pounds to shoulder height.
  4. Lift items above shoulder height.
  5. Carry supplies up or down stairs, if necessary.
  6. Work in confined areas with wide temperature variations.
  7. Travel to and from units and/or events.
