External Examiners Advert

I would like to bring to your attention the following vacancies for External Examiners in Economics, Accounting and Finance programmes at Ulster University. External Examiners are required for Academic Year 20/21 for Economics and Academic Year 21/22 for Accounting and Finance undergraduate programmes. 

The External Examiner Role: To provide an independent overview of the degree family at Examination Boards regarding the quality of awards and, to ensure that students are treated fairly in the assessment process. 

Modules within the programmes come from the Economics, Accounting and Finance subject areas, and some of these modules are shared with other Ulster University Business School courses. Potential External Examiners are asked to provide information about:
-  Subject specialisms within economics / accounting / finance undergraduate programmes:

  • Economics Undergraduate: Macroeconomics & Quantitative Methods
  • Accounting Undergraduate: Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Financial Management plus Skills for Accountants
  • Finance Undergraduate:  Corporate Finance, International Financial Reporting, Financial Modelling, Money and the Economy, Investing, International Finance, Behavioural Finance, Regulation and Ethics, Derivatives and Financial Statement Analysis

-    Previous External Examiner experience is preferable
-    Current External Examiner position/s
-    Employment including the last 5 years
-    Professional qualifications
-    Teaching experience including last 5 years, also include Module or Course Director roles. PGCHE/teaching qualifications, QAA experience (with dates).
-    Scholarly activities (last 5 years).

Prior to appointment you will be asked to confirm fluency in English language and independence from Ulster University students or related courses.

The Application Process: The Course Director, Course Team and Head of Department will select from interested parties. Following the selection, the person will then be proposed and approved by the Ulster University’s ASQEC Committee.
