Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac Surgery, seeks a Clinical Associate at 100% effort for a renewable two-year term.  The successful applicant will specialize in intensive care and ECMO.  This position is responsible for the post-operative management of complex cardiac surgery patients in the intensive care unit and inpatient floors and is expected to serve as the CT ICU attending in charge for approximately 9-13 weeks per year, in collaboration with Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care faculty. Lastly, this position will perform ECMO and other minor cardiac surgery procedures.  We especially welcome applicants with ECMO and ICU experience.  The position does not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent on qualifications and % effort.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Internal Medicine (or equivalent), and 4) have completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in cardiothoracic surgery and surgical critical care.
