RESEARCH SCIENTISTCivil and Environmental Engineering-ITS Lab, to work in the areas of behavioral modeling, agent- and activity-based simulation (for passenger and freight transport), and real-time traffic prediction and optimization. Will work directly with Professor Moshe Ben-Akiva and contribute to a broad range of ongoing research projects at the ITS Lab, including prediction-based optimization of pricing for managed lane operations; tradable mobility permits; and the design and assessment of innovative mobility solutions such as automated mobility-on-demand, urban air mobility, and mobility-as-a-service. Responsibilities will include conducting independent research that contributes to ongoing projects at the ITS lab; managing the progress of projects, supervising Ph.D. students, and meeting regularly with the PI and external sponsors; disseminating findings in journals/conferences and presenting research at domestic and international conferences; collaborating on the development and submission of proposals/research grant applications; and teaching and preparing graduate/undergraduate course material. 

Job Requirements

REQUIREDa Ph.D. in transportation modeling, econometrics, simulation, or allied field; ability to conduct independent research; fluency in English; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills; and ability to work independently and within a dynamic research team; experience with project management and supervision of postdocs/graduate students; and knowledge of programming in scientific languages (e.g., R, Python, MATLAB, Julia).  

PREFERRED:  knowledge of Linux and C++.  Job #18984
