Job Details

The King’s Genomics Centre is seeking to recruit a skilled life scientist with a background in molecular biology and/or genomics. The post holder will be working with a small group of Genomics Scientists based at the Waterloo campus on projects specialising in high throughput gene expression analysis. The post holder should be experienced in handling and extracting RNA, performing quality checks using the Bioanalyzer, and familiar with gene expression analysis techniques such as real-time PCR. Previous experience with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) work will be considered an advantage. The post holder will be expected to handle multiple-projects at a time, thus good organisational and communication skills along with the ability to meet project deadlines are essential. Additionally, the post-holder will also be expected to carry out key lab maintenance duties and provide training of equipment to King’s staff and students as required. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, eager to learn new genomics techniques and open to developing new skills.

The role is full time, fixed term role for 10 months

  • Providing advice and technical support to Genomics Centre customers
  • Daily maintenance of equipment within the Centre
  • Delivery of user training on techniques and protocols used in the Centre and/or specialist equipment.

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.
