ASSISTANT DEAN FOR DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION (DEI)Schwarzman College of Computing (SCC),to coordinate, advise, develop, and implement--in collaboration with senior administration--programs and activities to increase diversity and inclusivity among students and faculty in the computing fields. Will collaborate on the successful recruitment, professional development, and retention of faculty and students from diverse backgrounds. Responsibilities include driving and coordinating programs/activities to ensure SCC’s diversity and inclusivity programs are aligned with MIT's initiatives/strategic plans; acting as a spokesperson and visible advocate for the promotion of diversity, inclusivity, and a belonging environment and promoting these values across SCC; and serving as a strategic thinker and thoughtful advisor/advocate.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor's degree in a related field; ten years’ experience as a senior-level diversity leader; DEI, affirmative action, change management, organization development, and/or human resources experience; extensive knowledge of AA/EEO, Title IX, and civil rights laws/regulations; experience analyzing data and surveys and producing reports and presentations, and developing tools to measure progress; ability to be visionary, strategic, and  tactical in executing strategies; familiarity with student services, pipeline initiatives, and enrollment management practices supporting the recruitment, retention, and graduation of students of diverse backgrounds; understanding of evolving issues and demographic trends impacting higher education; ability to influence and create and implement diversity programs collaboratively in a decentralized academic environment with multiple constituency groups and leadership levels; management and project planning experience; and good judgment, tact, and discretion with sensitive/confidential matters. 

PREFERREDmaster’s/Ph.D. in leadership, DEI, OD, HR, or related field; professional certifications; diversity and inclusion affiliations; experience in higher education or research setting; and commitment to building and sustaining relationships. Job #19042-13
