We are looking for experienced screen content creators to join the Teaching & Learning team in February 2021 on a part-time basis. Working with subject leader and with a team of other tutors, you will be teaching our students on the Bachelor of Arts Screen: Production (BASP) course by delivering the approved curriculum as well as following guidelines, processes and practices outlined by AFTRS. 

While possibly specialising in one, you will feel comfortable in both fiction and non-fiction production. Ideally, you will have knowledge and experience across several of the following areas:

  • Writing
  • Screen Studies
  • Screen Business
  • Producing and Production Management
  • Directing
  • Camera
  • Production Design
  • Sound
  • Editing and VFX 

About the role:

As a tutor working in the subject teams, you will:

  • Work with the Director, Teaching & Learning to ensure AFTRS maintains the highest reputation within Industry, and liaise with the First Nations Division to ensure cultural competency of student works is of a high standard befitting to AFTRS commitment to embedding First Nations cultural values and relationships within the School.
  • Work as part of a collaborative subject team teaching into your allocated subject(s) across all three years of the BASP.
  • Provide mentoring and support to students in your allocated subject(s).
  • Assess and mark students' work in accordance with the curriculum and assessment guidelines.
  • Ensure all relevant administrative work is completed including responding to student emails, attending and participating in course meetings and School-wide meetings.
  • Support the delivery of subjects as required.

About you:

Ideally, you will be a screen content creator with solid professional credits and ideally experience of teaching, particularly in a higher education tertiary environment.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum of 3-years of Industry experience creating content in one or more of the above roles.
  • The ability to work independently, use initiative and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, adapting the message for a diverse audience in an inclusive and accessible way.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, working collaboratively in a team.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence.
  • Hold relevant tertiary qualifications or have equivalent experience.

Salary: ACA2.7 $94,077 (pro-rata) plus up to 15.4% super and excellent benefits.
