Job Description Summary

The Research Specialist will be responsible for the analysis of equine samples in a large scale, high-throughput, A2LA-accredited analytical laboratory.

Job Description

Duties will include the login, preparation, and/or analysis of forensic and research samples in a large scale, high-throughput, A2LA-accredited analytical laboratory using provided Standard Operating Procedures and under the oversight of managerial staff.  Assistance with Method development, validation, and SOP writing is also expected.

Analyze Samples by mass spectrometry and ELISA using standard operating procedures and complete required reports.

Assist with Research

Assist with sample extraction

Assist with sample login and dumping

Assist with method validation and writing standard operating procedures


The Penn Vet Equine Pharmacology Laboratory is seeking to employ an Analytical Chemist.  Qualified individuals would preferably have a BS in chemistry or a related field, 1 to 5 years experience with gas and/or liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and ELISA and/or a MS in chemistry or a related field.  Strict attention to detail and the ability to collaborate well with others is required.
