Energy Research Institute @ NTU invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup rigorous protocols and characterize composition of various ewastes and their components
  • Develop and execute experiments aims at the extraction and recovery of metals from ewaste
  • Design and implement scaled up process
  • Characterize results
  • Maintain laboratory notebook according to best practice standards
  • Draft research publication and invention disclosures
  • Prepare technical reports for the program Pi and present data at regular group meetings
  • Meet with industrials to develop collaboration and partnerships

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Material Science
  • Strong backgrounds on chemical engineering
  • Familiar with spectroscopic studies
  • Good record of publications and IPs
  • Show capacity to self-motivate him(her)self and manage/motivate others
  • Ability to conduct and manage given projects with high degree of independence
  • Ability to develop/synthesize new molecules and materials
  • Ability to scale up using chemical engineering skill and simulation tools
  • Research background of recycling of wastes, especially if using hydrometallurgy is a plus
  • Expertise in physical chemistry is a plus
  • Regular reports and good documentation of work are expected
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are absolutely key

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
