Preliminary Year Tutor in Business and Economics

Join a unique British University in China.  The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. This award winning campus offering a UK style education has grown to establish a student body of over 8,000 in just 16 years. We are looking for a qualified and committed Preliminary Year Tutor in Business and Economics to join the Centre for English Language Education.

Centre for English Language Education (CELE)

Since the development of the Nottingham-Ningbo campus in 2004, the Centre for English Language Education (CELE) has aimed to promote high quality teaching in its structure and support of academic programmes delivered in China. With over 110 academic staff, the CELE operation at UNNC is now one of the largest of its kind in the world and is currently supporting all UNNC students on its Preliminary Year, Pre-Sessional and Academic Literacy Development Centre programmes.

Preliminary Year Programme

The Preliminary Year Programme is offered to students in their first year of study at UNNC and represents 120 academic credits. The programme is currently a 50-50 split between modules focusing on specific academic subjects and modules focusing on the development of English Language skills. Successful completion of the Preliminary Year is a pre-requisite for progression to the second year of study.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified teaching professionals able to offer experience and expertise in one or more of the following key fields: Business, Management, Business Economics, Information Systems for Business.

Successful applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Economics or relevant field and be native English speakers (or with equivalent competence). They will primarily join a team responsible for delivering a portfolio of intensive Preliminary Year business and economics related classes and support to students both in the classroom and through online teaching. However, dependent on individual tutors’ aptitude and experience, there is also scope for their involvement in specific projects such as summer school teaching.

Salary will be within the range of RMB 323198.00 – RMB 488374.00 per annum depending on skills and experience, salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance. In addition, an attractive package including accommodation allowance, travel allowance and insurance will be provided for international appointments.

The posts will initially be offered on a fixed term contract for a period of 3 years starting January 2021 (later starts for exceptional candidates may be negotiated). This contract may be extended on an indefinite basis by mutual agreement. All posts will be based in Ningbo and contracts will be with the University of Nottingham Ningbo China.

All applicants are required to formally apply online for the position.
