PEIC Education and Tele-Therapy Manager

As part of the Department of Psychiatry, Neurodevelopment & Psychosis Section, The PEIC is a statewide center funded through the PA Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (OMHSAS) to provide comprehensive services around first episode psychosis across Pennsylvania. PEIC provides a full array of services related to training, education, clinical care, and program evaluation in early intervention. The PEIC Education and Tele-Therapy Manager will oversee, direct and implement efforts to develop educational materials and curricula specific to FEP (First Episode Psychosis) care for a variety of stakeholders and establish tele-mental-health care to the FEP population at UPENN and throughout the State of Pennsylvania

This position is contingent upon grant funding.

PEIC Education and Tele-Therapy Manager

The Pennsylvania Early Intervention Center (PEIC) Education Coordinator and Tele-Therapy Manager will

  • Oversee, direct and implement efforts to develop educational materials and curricula specific to FEP (First Episode Psychosis) care for a variety of stakeholders  
  • Establish tele-mental-health care to the FEP population at UPENN and throughout the State of Pennsylvania

They will have expertise in direct delivery of Cognitive Therapy for Psychosis (CT-R) and supervision of providers; they will provide tele-mental-health care and will supervise providers at UPENN and affiliated clinical sites throughout the state of Pennsylvania. They will create and implement the education curriculum for providers at UPENN and affiliated clinical sites on the ethics and pragmatics of tele-mental-health care for FEP, train CT-R providers and provide clinical supervision of providers who deliver direct FEP care.

The PEIC Education Coordinator and Tele-Therapy Coordination/Manager will manage all PEIC-related statewide trainings. They will present at state and national trainings/conferences. They will work with the Community Resources Coordinator to develop psychoeducational curriculum and materials for FEP providers, participants, and families to be posted on the PEIC website and distributed nationally/internationally. They will complete other duties as assigned.

For administrative responsibilities the PEIC Education Coordinator and Tele-Therapy Manager will report to the PEIC Center Manager, for clinical responsibilities they will report to PEIC leadership/senior clinical providers (either Ph.D. or M.D.). They will operate at a high level of independence.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field with a current clinical license and 5-7 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required. An advanced degree (Master's, Ph.D., Psy.D) preferred. Advanced training in Cognitive Therapy for Psychosis (CTr) required and Metacognitive Therapy for Psychosis preferred. Experience working with the First Episode Psychosis (FEP) population and supervising others working with the FEP population required; experience with the Coordinated Specialty Care (CSC) model and creating/delivering educational curricula preferred. Experience with tele-health, telephone, or video-based diagnostic/clinical assessments preferred. Some research experience related to FEP/psychosis preferred.

Background check required. Must pass Pennsylvania’s Child Protective Services Act (also known as Act 73) background checks, within 30-90 days of employment.. Position contingent on funding.
