Job Description

The department of Physics in UAE University is seeking for highly-qualified, self-motivated microfabrication and characterization postdoc to participate in the activities related to the R&D of new smart gas sensors using IOT paradigm. The candidate will be integrated in international multidisciplinary team with a comprehensive expertise in fabrication and characterization of gas sensors, 2D materials, and theoretical simulations. The candidate will be expected to participate actively in activities related to the research and development of new nanostructured materials to provide multiple functional properties using different substrates. The candidate will be expected to process, characterize and evaluate single sensor and multi sensors, using different materials, to achieve multiple functional properties. In addition, the post doc will participate in ongoing projects as well as the supervision of PhD and master students in the team. The candidate should demonstrate independence and creativity in preparing, executing and optimizing new microfabrication processes, as well as in preparing and performing characterization of samples. Minimum Qualification

  • PhD degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or other related field, is required. Experience and Technical Skills
  • Previous hands-on experience gas sensors, materials deposition methods, device fabrication and characterizations is mandatory;
  • Previous hands-on experience in 2D materials, perovskite and semiconductor materials characterization and analysis of thin film properties (e.g. SEM, AFM, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Photoluminescence/Raman I-V, C-V is required,
  • Experience on Internet Of Things is appreciated,
  • Experience in nanomaterials for water-splitting is valued,
  • Experience on theoretical simulation is valued,
  • Excellent communication skills in English are required
  • Strong motivation to work both independently and as part of a team in an interdisciplinary environment, with the ability to pay close attention to detail and to meet deadlines;

Preferred Qualification

  • Previous hands-on experience in gas sensors, 2D materials, perovskite and semiconductor, water splitting, materials characterization and analysis of thin film properties (e.g. SEM, AFM, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Photoluminescence/Raman I-V, C-V is required,
