Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Medicine

This project will design and synthesise a new class of multifunctional polymers with applications in wound healing. The objective is to apply the controlled/living polymerization approach on multivinyl monomers (MVMs) for the design and preparation of novel single-chain cyclized/knot polymers and demonstrate their potentials in biomedical applications, in particular, for the treatment of the rare skin fragility disorder, Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa (RDEB). The successful candidate will work as part of a well-established and dynamic research team in the UCD Charles Institute of Dermatology.

This is a research focused role, where you will conduct a specified programme of research supported by research training and development under the supervision and direction of a Principal Investigator.

The primary purpose of the role is to further develop your research skills and competences, including the processes of publication in peer-reviewed academic publications, the development of funding proposals, the mentorship of graduate students along with the opportunity to develop your skills in research led teaching.

A vacancy exists for a Post-doctoral Research Fellow - commencing at level 1. Applicants please note a minimum of two years, and a maximum of four years' experience must be completed at PD Lvl1 (across all employers) after which, a post holder may, subject to recommendation and review by the Principal Investigator, be eligible for progression to Postdoctoral Fellow - Level 2 (PD Lvl2)

• Note: Progression is for training purposes need not necessarily result in a salary increase or placement on the PD Lvl2 salary range.

In addition to the Principal Duties and Responsibilities listed below, the successful candidate will also carry out the following duties specific to this project:

• Fulfilling reporting requirements, working closely with the PI
• Co-supervising PhD students
• Be responsible for the preparation, bio-functionalization and evaluation of the polymers for the project

Salary: €38,631 - €44,658 per annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.
