Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in Novel Antimicrobials, Bacterial Virulence, and Bacteria-virus Co-infections in the Department of Microbiology (Ref.: 502408), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory performance.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in microbiology or related disciplines with more than 4 years’ recent postdoctoral training. Extensive research experience in antimicrobial resistance, high-throughput screening of novel antimicrobials, bacterial genetics (particularly hands-on experience working with MRSA and multidrug resistance bacteria), animal infection models, and bacterial fluorescence and bioluminescence reporter systems is required. Certified training in BSL-3 facilities working with P3 microbial pathogens is highly desirable. Those who have a demonstrated track record in securing external research grants would have an advantage. He/She should be self-motivated, able to work independently as well as in a team, and have good communication skills in English.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
