of Postdoc in media psychology / communication / media studies

We are seeking a highly motivated researcher for a postdoctoral position in media psychology/communication/media studies for IRTIS at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic.
IRTIS (Interdisciplinary Research Team on Internet and Society) is a research team focused on examining the effects of ICTs on individuals and society from the psychological, sociological, and media studies perspectives. We are a strong team with a high level of international and interdisciplinary cooperation.
Currently, we are involved in three major projects
- a European Horizon 2020 project focused on youth digital skills (14 European universities and the best scientists in the world are involved in this project), started January 2020
- an established European network focused on children online EU Kids Online - https://www.lse.ac.uk/media-and-communications/research/research-projects/eu-kids-online
- a ground-breaking Czech project to examine the effect of ICTs on the well-being of adolescents (started January 2019) – see https://irtis.muni.cz/future
Job Summary:
- The projects we are currently working on examine the role of ICTs on the well-being of adolescents and include longitudinal data collections and experimental data collections that focus on capturing causal effects. This position includes a range of activities related to the data collections (e.g., input for questionnaires and methods); data analyses; a leading role in writing publications and cooperation on other team members’ publications) (e.g., research papers for peer-reviewed journals, research reports for dissemination to the general public); and attendance at international meetings and conferences;
- The position centers on the topic of impact of ICT on well-being among children and adolescents. More specifically, we search for the expertise in one of these topics: ICT and health (eating behavior, sleeping, seeking health information etc), excessive internet use, social networking sites, online communication, digital skills.
Requirements:
- PhD in Psychology, Communication, Media Studies, or another social science field with relevance to the study of the effects of ICT on individuals and society;
- Interest in the effects of ICT on children and adolescents, experience with research on the same or a related topic (i.e., research projects, publications);
- Experience with quantitative research projects and a strong knowledge of quantitative methodology;
- High skills in statistical analyses and work with quantitative data;
- Willingness to learn;
- Ability to work autonomously on the research topic;
- Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills, time-management skills, thoroughness, perseverance;
- Proficiency in English.
We offer:
- Full-time job (40 hours per week) in Brno;
- Flexibility in working hours, home office;
- 46,000 - 50,000 CZK/month gross salary (median wage in the Czech Republic: 29,333 CZK);
