About the role and the College

The Discipline of Nursing offers programs that prepare students for diverse and complex healthcare environments, the teaching is underpinned by a culture of academic excellence, innovative research, clinical practice, and strong community partnerships. We offer a Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Mental Health Nursing, Graduate Diploma Child and Family Health Nursing and Research Higher Degrees. We launched a new BN curriculum in 2019 that has a strong consumer focus with an emphasis on diversity and preparing the graduate to be industry ready.

As the Lecturer, Early Career Development Fellow (ECDF), you will contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School within the Nursing discipline. Your area of expertise will be in mental health nursing as you contribute to the undergraduate and postgraduate programs where appropriate. You will be actively involved in establishing and maintaining memberships and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will also play a pivotal role in the School's course coordination.

About you

You will have an emerging track record and demonstrated professional practice within the previous five years including experience working within the higher education sector to deliver programs with a focus on your area of expertise. As a Lecturer, (ECDF) it is critical that you can coordinate, prepare, and deliver courses in an undergraduate nursing program and where relevant, other undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including online delivery. You will forge strong and productive networks including with external agencies to generate clinical placements for RMIT students. Additionally, you will be able to work effectively with students and communicate sensitive information related to effective learning. Furthermore, you will relish the opportunity to be part of a supportive and collaborative team as you engage with both industry and the academic world.

Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field required for appointment at level B. Substantial progress towards Ph.D. may be considered for level A appointment.
  • Performed casual teaching work in an Australian University within the last three years and not held a continuing role.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at the time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfill their probation).
