A unique opportunity now exists to join the Faculty of Education and Arts as Head ofthe National School of Education. The National School of Education is the largest provider of initial teacher education in Australia, with a strong reputation for its high quality, work-ready graduates. Adding to its traditional strengths in early childhood, primary and secondary initial teacher education, the National School of Education’s disciplines reflect key strengths in the areas of mathematics and literacy education, the arts, science and technology, educational studies, teacher professional practice, assessment, educational leadership, Indigenous education, and wellbeing and inclusive education. These disciplines are evidenced through strong enrolments across its undergraduate, postgraduate coursework, and PhD and EdD programs.

Reporting to the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Education and Arts, the next National Head of the School of Education will provide visionary leadership across the University’s Education programs and courses and support the research goals of the University, in collaboration with the Institute for Learning Sciences and Teacher Education and the Research Centre for Digital Data and Assessment in Education. Bringing a strong understanding of initial teacher education, this role will foster a proactive and innovative approach to national and international trends in the associated disciplines which will enable the National School to strengthen its national and international identity and be clearly visible across the sector as a key disciplinary player. The next National Head will also enable strong stakeholder and industry engagement that enriches and supports the School’s endeavours. This role will require a high level of interdisciplinary experience to ensure collaborative engagement across disciplines, faculties and campuses, and an appreciation and understanding of Education within a Catholic University.
