CAREERS ADVISER – CENTRAL FACULTY
Permanent post(s)
Edinburgh Campus and/or Oatridge Campus
£23,279 - £27,388 per annum
Ref: ACF/FO/023/20

SRUC is unique in Scotland and one of the largest organisations of its kind in Europe.  Our ambitious and exciting vision is to work at local, national and international levels, leading innovation and sustainable development in agriculture and rural sectors.

A Careers Adviser opportunity has arisen within the Central Faculty.  The role will involve providing high quality careers information, advice and guidance to students which is tailored to the needs of individual students and grounded in accurate information about the relevant job markets relevant to Further and Higher Education e.g. certificate, undergraduate, Postgraduate/Masters/PhD level students at SRUC.

This is a site-specific post. We envisage that this role could be carried out either by:

•    a full time employee able to split their time equally between the Edinburgh and Oatridge campuses, or
•    two 0.5 FTE employees – one at each campus.

We are seeking a candidate/s with experience of delivering career information, advice and guidance to students within a tertiary education setting. Some experience of working with, and positively impacting on, students with SpLDs, and additional support needs is required, as are strong coaching skills.

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess a degree level qualification in a relevant subject and/or a relevant professional qualification relating to formal Careers Guidance. If you have relevant experience but no formal qualifications, you must be willing to undertake and obtain a relevant formal qualification within a reasonable timeframe after appointment e.g. Qualification in Careers Guidance/Development (QCG/D) or a Pg Dip in Careers Guidance.

It is essential that you have proven experience of successfully delivering career information, advice and guidance to both Further and Higher Education students at all levels e.g. certificate, undergraduate, postgraduate, Masters and PhD level students.   Including students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) or other additional support needs.

A good understanding of the Scottish Government’s Careers Information Advice & Guidance Strategy and Career Management Skills Framework would be beneficial. A broad awareness of current Labour Market Information/Intelligence (LMI) including national and local trends and evidence of knowledge of at least some of the sectors/industries specific to the faculty would be advantageous.

For more detail regarding key duties and responsibilities, and a list of essential and desirable skills/qualifications/experience required for the role, please refer to the Job Profile document.

Please state on the application form which role you are interested in, i.e. Full Time or Part Time (including campus).
